Summary:

The story of two brothers, Randy and Jay, who are killed and go to Heaven where they meet God who returns them both to earth as Dawg Eyes (a collie dog) and Chipper (a parrot) to not only help the local police apprehend their murderer but also to save the town's Christmas.

As if painted by the magical strokes of an artist's brush, the pale-blue backdrop was highlighted with the billowing translucencies that humans have come to know as clouds.

Randy raised his head. His eyes rested upon the blurred figure seated in a chair of royal splendor.

"Where in the devil-" Before he could utter another word, he flinched with immediate agony after biting his tongue.

A booming voice filled the silent void as the pain slowly faded.

"Welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven, Randall Morris Benson."

"Heaven? Well, if I'm in heaven, who are you supposed to be?" Randy quizzed with sarcasm.

"I am God. Thee Almighty."

"Sure, and I'm St. Jude."

Once again, Randy was taken by sudden pain as he was struck on the back of the head so hard it forced him to his knees.

"Say, what's going on here?" he questioned, getting back to his feet and rubbing his head to ease the bruise.

"A taste of thoust own medicine. It is a shame thou hast never learned respect in the twenty years I gave thee as a mortal."

"Okay, cut the malarkey."

Again, as if someone had hammered him sharply between the shoulder blades, Randy whirled in pain.

"Okay! Okay! Stop with the practical jokes already!" he cried as he found his balance again. "They're more painful than they are funny."

"There are no practical jokes here, Randall," God explained. "The pain thou is experiencing is brought on by thine own misguided mouth."

Randy didn't believe Him...

About the Author
